    Hi,

I’m having problems with attaching (and unattaching) images to posts after having uploaded them into my site through the Media Library.

    1) I can only attach 1 image to one post or page. Images attached to additional pages aren’t reflected in the “attached to” column in the media library.
    2) I can’t un-attach images from a post or page either short of deleting the image or the page it was originally inserted into. Clicking the red crossed circle in the visual editor doesn’t seem to work, and neither does removing the code from the HTML editor.

Is there someway to trigger wordpress into updating this sort of information?

    Cheers!

I don’t really understand the questions..

    1) Attachments only attach to one post or page. There’s no way to attach one thing to multiple posts because it doesn’t work like that.

    2) You are correct, you can’t disconnect an attachment from the post without deleting it. That’s by design.

I have the same problem as the OP. Let me tell you why that’s a problem. I run a magazine style site. News are posted 2-3 times a week. The short versions of articles are posted on the front page along with a thumb of the first image attached. As it is now if an editor makes a mistake and puts a wrong image into the post(or decides later that he wants to change it) the only way is to delete that image from the server. Thats not a best solution as often those images are used in more than one place. I’d like an option to remove an image from post attachements without deleting it.

    Hi,

I too have this difficulty, and wish to have the ability for a client to detach a photo from a post, not delete it. That way if it is linked elsewhere it will stay in place.

    Would appreciate any help.

I as well would love to see a fix for this.

I would like to have that option too.

This is frustrating to me as well. I would love to have it fixed.
