• In a Page or Post I click on Add Media and get a Server Not Found message when clicking on the “From URL” and “Media Library” links/tabs.

The “From Computer” link/tab works perfectly, can upload files from there easily. I can go to Media and all the files are there, area is fully functional, can click on them to view them etc. Permissions in my upload folder are set to 777.

Is there something in the code in WordPress that isn’t pointing in the right direction to find these links?

    Thanks so much.
    Steve

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Yes I have tried all of these.

It seems that the path’s on the tabs of the media gallery are not correct, just realised this. Do you know how and where these can be fixed?

    Thanks so much.

They are generated from your site urls. In what way are the urls incorrect?

I don’t have the url displaying ie

    I should have https://www.*****.org/whatever/….
    But have https://whatever/…

I went to Settings > General and the URL is displaying correctly there. When I click Save Changes in that section I get this message:

“Safari can’t open the page “https://whatever/wp-admin/options-general.php?settings-updated=true” because Safari can’t find the server “whatever”.”

I receive this message in all “Save Changes” in the Settings section. I assume I need to look for those php files and check the path’s in there or are they displayed somewhere else?

All of the path are generated from the urls in Settings->General which, in turn, are saved in your database.

    [Edit: Must stop repeating myself…]

Have you previously changed the urls for this site at some time in the past? Can you examine your wp-options table using Phpmyadmin?

Thanks, I will log into phpmyadmin and see what I can find.

Sorry to be such a nuisance, kind of new at this.

Can’t see any bad or incomplete links in phpmyadmin, checked through all the tables.

I’ve given up on this one. Will de-install WordPress and start over. Sigh.
