Media Libary & Gallery Issues, can anyone advise?

I am confused and disappointed by the WP galleries and the media library. I am an artist posting new work & comments, so images & galleries are important.

Galleries seem to be poorly described & behave in undesirable/ unexpected ways. Gallery order is limited to the thumbnails, & although viewing full page images from a gallery implies a slideshow (Next/Previous), you will see a different slideshow depending on how the images were uploaded and whether they appear in other post or galleries.

As a result, my posts with galleries just seems utterly broken from the blog reader’s point-of-view!

When I use the Simple Lightbox plug-in, my galleries magically work as expected: I can click on the first image and page through only the images included in this gallery, in the same order as the thumbnails appear!

From reading old comments, it seems that WP now gives me an option not previously available & that will not work in a reasonable manner. WP now allows me to add images to multiple galleries from the Media Library via the add from Media Library tab. This may be what creates wierd behavior in galleries when images are viewed full page.

Note: I have not used gallery plugins much, don’t really understand WP attachments & would prefer not to if possible!
