• Would anyone mind helping a rookie?

Ok, here I go. The last time I worked with building pages was Frontpage 2000. Now I must build a seminary portfolio and I may have jumped in over my head a bit with WP. I have uploaded the site but the one thing I can not figure out is uploading media files.

I can upload simple pictures below 10MB, but how do I upload large files?

I am using Bluehost, building using WP, MT Dark Theme. I tried Cyberduck but not web-smart enough to know what I am doing.

Anyone have a little time to help?

  • Hi,

You could upload these directly to your host and then link them into your wordpress?

    Thanks

Perhaps have a read through this:

CustomThemes: that is exactly what I would like to do, and I have tried for HOURS trying to get the URL right but it simply isn’t working. I am doing something wrong.

2ninerniner2: I read that file and having a mac I had to use Cyberduck. Again…I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong with the FTP and Cyberduck connection.

It seems in both cases I am not configuring the URLs correctly.

Don’t give up on me here guys…

You need to ask your hosting company about any FTP issues – FTP is not part of WP – it also does not generally use the same access info as your WP site unless you happen to set it up to use the same info.

    Did you go through this?

    https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/ftpaccounts

When you signed up at Bluehost, you will have received an email which includes your FTP account credentials.

I just loaded up Cyberduck (CD) on one of my Macs to test and here’s the scoop:

Basically, there are 4 items you need:

    1 – Server = ftp.yourdomain.com
    2 – Port = 21
3 – Username = the Username you use to log into the Bluehost cPanel
4 – Password = the Password you use to log into the Bluehost cPanel

Bluehost is the site, unfortunately they list three third parties to help with the FTP….only one for MAC (Cyberduck), and as I already mentioned I am not getting along with it and I don;t see any other help available from them.

If there are any further ideas, I’ll keep checking back.

OK 2ninerniner2: that tutorial was very helpful…I missed that one. I am a huge step closer. Now that I have the ducky working…I need to know what to do with it. huge step closer… THNX

Good to hear ?? Please mark this as Resolved.

I chatted with bluehost folks…no help.

Can I repeat my basic issue as I truly need some help:

    – MY php.ini is set to max. It is not my problem.
    – My file is uploaded to file manger on Bluehost. Thats not a problem.
    – Cyberduck seems to be working okay but I don’t know what to do with it as my file is uploaded to FTP. I did reload the file onto the FTP site using CyberDuck to ensure it was done right.

    The problem:
WP wont let me upload more than 10mb onto a page. So, how do I host a 38 MB audio file on Bluehost onto a page written by WP.

OK, but the original issue has been resolved, that is how to upload a file larger than 10MB.

Now you want to play an audio file in a WP page. Please post a new topic with this question so that others may find by this topic … and if you do a quick search on this forum for that, I do believe you will find the answer ??
