• I’m having problems with one particular post. I’m a food blogger and am trying to upload pictures of a Shepherd’s pie that I recently made. I edit the photos in Lightroom, export them out at a 600×600 pixel size and import them into WordPress – it works for every other post I have but this shepherd’s pie keeps giving me an http error when I try to upload pix. I’ve tried to upload them to a “new post” but get the same error.

  • This issue can have multiple causes.

Could you try adding the following line to the .htaccess file in the main WordPress directory on your server and see if that resolves your issue?

    SetEnv MAGICK_THREAD_LIMIT 1

If it won’t resolve the issue, please try with this plugin:

    Download it at https://github.com/getsource/default-to-gd

    Installation:

    1. Upload the folder default-to-gd to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
    2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress

    Hope this helps.

My suggestion: Avoid unusual punctuation in your image’s titles.

Apostrophe’s, in particular, can stop an image from uploading. Rename such files and generally try to keep image names simple.
