Media files not working

It appears that after updating to version 6.5.3, many websites are encountering issues where files from the uploads folder cannot be found. This seems to be a significant problem stemming from WordPress.

I just came to the forums to post about this. 2/3 of my media library is gone and whenever i upload new media it just poofs along with a 404.

If anyone finds a solution please advise!

The issue might be related to the .htaccess file in the upload folder. Please check and rename the file. Please test it out

I’m not that tech savy. Why do you ask me to test it out? Cant you do it in your own website? lol

I did on my own site and its working for me.

What were the steps you followed to fix the issue, please provide it so i can check it

Deleting?wp-content/uploads/.htaccess worked for me.

@pritch808, You’re welcome! However, we still need to identify the root cause of this issue to understand why it occurred. I’ll keep you updated here if we find any solutions or insights regarding the .htaccess file.

Is it just me or does anybody else not have a .htaccess file visible in cPanel?
Where can i actually see it? maybe its hidden somehow?

Navigate to the file manager and click on the settings button located at the top right corner. This will prompt a dialog box to appear. Ensure to check the option labeled “Show Hidden Files.” By doing so, you will be able to view all .htaccess files throughout the file manager.

Hi, I’m having the same problem. I went to the c-panel and I think I found the file. I’m not positive it’s the right one though. My path is /public_html/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_uploads/.htaccess

Is that the right file to delete?
