Yes, unfortunately that is the “downside” but unless you have a ton of images I don’t see it being much of an issue.

Since you have a backup copy on your local machine maybe you should take a look in the database (on your local machine).

This way you can determine where WordPress is looking for the images (URL’s). I would NOT recommend changing anything in the db though.
