Media files not loading, settings/media/upload path url GONE

  • Since the 3.8 upgrade my images are not loading – they are in the media library but will not display either in the library or on the post. I also noticed no link for the files path URL in Settings-Media.

    Have deactivated all plugins but this has still not solved the problem. I’ve re-installed the update and the theme too but this has not changed anything either.

    Any help much appreciated – thanks. From the support forum seems I am not the only one with a similar problem. Thanks again.

  • On the front side of the site, when you view a page with images, do you get the typical broken image display?

    I’ve encountered this before and the solution was in permalinks, or in the htaccess file.

    Try resetting your permalinks in Settings -> Permalinks. Generally, what you do is load permalinks settings page, and then click the save button. This is supposed to rewrite the permalinks rules, you also can choose a different setting save it, and switch back if you are superstitious. Anyhow, the process rewrites some permalink rules in the htaccess file and may fix your problem, if it doesn’t you’ll need to access the file directory on the server and copy/paste the contents of your htaccess file here. Chances are a plugin update messed things up.

    There was an extra htaccess file in the folder – now removed and problem gone.
