Media files didn't move after duplication / Upload on new site not working

Hello!

I’ve recently used the duplicator to move a wordpress site from a temporary creation adress on one web host, into the correct name and another domain host.

Everyone looked fine after the move, but it turns out the media files never moved. They show up in the media library, and on the site – but the files are still in the old location. Also, I am not able to upload images to the wordpress in the new location – the names show up, but the files dont. Broken links.

I’ll try to explain:

Old WordPress site: mysite.temporaryURL.com
Old Media folder: mysiteMedia.temporaryURL.com

New Site: mysite.com
“New” (created in the new web domain/FTP by Duplicator) Mediafolder: mysiteMedia.temporaryURL.com

The old media folder (mysiteMedia.temporaryURL.com) on my temporary FTP contains all the files from developing the site. (In folders like 08, 09, etc)

The new media folder (named exactly the same as the folder on the old FTP) contains nothing except folders for the new months (ex. 10, 11)

Any files i upload to the new wordpress installation (mysite.com) end up in the new media folder, in the correct folders (10, 11, etc), however they do not show up in the media library. Not as thumbnails, nor direct links.

I have tried moving the files from the old mediafolder, on the old FTP, into my new media folder, on the new FTP – and removing them completly from the old FTP – but that only makes some images show up on the new page (atleast automatically…), I dont know if those that show up are cached somehow, or if they are being direct linked in, or why they show up but I couldn’t figure out the next step.

This is a problem, but if nothing works – I can live with the new site using files from the old, in order to work.

But – the new site not being able to show/use any new media that I upload to the medialibrary at mysite.com, would destroy the site.

My guess is that it’s something about how URL:s and whatnot that I dont understand?

Old site (mysite.temporaryURL.com) media:
../../mysiteMedia.temporaryURL.com/public_html

I feel because both the new and old media folder got named the same thing, that’s one of the parts that’s confusing me. I’ve been afraid to change the new media folder name due to some images on the site using a direct link to the files.

I’m sure I’ve missed something from the start when moving the site. What can I do to fix it?
