Media file upload performance

  • When I upload small jpg files to my site (ptartist.com) it is very slow. I see a progress bar that hangs at 3/4 complete for 5-15 seconds. If I upload the same file from my Cpanel file manager the upload is instantaneous, so maybe this has to do with WP, the database, and/or some combination problems with host settings.

    Files are 200-300KB. This is a fairly recent problem, but I don’t know if happened when my hosting service moved my site to a new server, or with a WP upgrade, or __?

    I don’t know where to start troubleshooting. I need to check or ask very specific questions in order to get answers & help from my hosting service tech support.

    I would appreciate suggestions!
