Media file linking to page and not zip file.

I have been working on a website, and wanted to attach a media kit in the form of a .zip file. I have uploaded the file onto my sever and added the code
<a href="https://www.nwmpmuseum.com/theFortMuseumMediaKit.zip">Download the Media Kit!</a>

but instead of downloading the .zip it tries to go to a page, as if the link was linking to a page vs. the file.

I have double checked the file and it is under the nwmpmuseum public_html and named theFortMuseumMediaKit.zip
