• Hello,
Google Analytics hasn’t been receiving data for a few weeks. After looking into the code, the Measurement ID (e.g. G-A1B2C3D4E5) in the source of the site at https://tryit.tv (where the code is automatically added by Site Kit) is not the same as the Measurement ID in the Google Analytics account admin property that’s connected in Site Kit.

I’ve disconnected and connected Site Kit again but it remains different. I’m using Site Kit on another website and that’s OK. As I said, this was working on tryit.tv before a few weeks ago.

Any suggestions for a fix would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Bharat

Thanks for reaching out @bharatk. I checked your site and I can confirm that Site Kit has placed a Google Analytics code as expected. Site Kit uses the Google tag ID (with a GT- prefix) which contains a users Google Analytics measurement code, which is why you typically don’t see the measurement ID printed to your sites source code. Based on this I will need to see your Site Health information to determine what measurement ID Site Kit is used. Note that if it’s not the correct measurement ID that is in use, you can change this anytime within your Site Kit configurations. You’ll find more on this here.

Note also that from checking your site, both manually and using the tagassistant.google.com service, I can see that site visits may not be firing in Analytics, even after I grant consent using your consent management plugin. This is another reason why I can’t determine what measurement ID is used within Site Kit. To troubleshoot this further, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.??
    2. Do you see any data recently within your Site Kit dashboard?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Hello @jamesosborne , thank you for looking into this.

Yes, the Google Analytics code is placed by Site Kit code on the site, and it contains the Google Tag ID starting with GT-

However, the tag in the code for the site in this screen https://a.cl.ly/GGuB4b74 (I’ve blanked out most of the tag) in admin of Google Analytics has a different tag start with G- , and that’s I why I feel visits have stopped being received in Analytics.

Re: the set-up. I reset Site Kit on the site and connected again, and on the final connection screen, for the site, there is only one Property and one Data Stream. See here: https://a.cl.ly/BluvDmeb Again, the tag ID on this different to the tag ID in the code placed on the site by Site Kit.

I’ve submitted the form with the Site Health information. It has a copy of this message.

Re: recent data, no visitors appear in the last 28 days, even though there have been visits, but impressions show something which is a confusing if there we no visitors. See here: https://a.cl.ly/yAuz0gNl

    I’d appreciate your suggestions.

    Thank you,

Thanks for the update Bharat. After checking the Site Heath information you kindly shared, I can see that the GA4 property and measurement ID you have configured within Site Kit is analytics_4_measurement_id: G-QT????????. Is this the ID you were looking to configure? You can change this at any stage within the Site Kit Analytics settings (Site Kit > Settings > Analytics > Edit). Note that the data shown within the Site Kit dashboard will be pulled from your Google Analytics account, displaying data from only the connected GA4 property.

Regarding no Analytics data, rather than this being related to a different measurement ID being configured within Site Kit, this may be related to a consent management configuration. I say this as the consent feature active on your site, or something else may be blocking reporting. When I check your site either manually or using the tagassistant.google.com service, no tags are fired. To troubleshoot this issue, please disable this feature and I’m happy to check once more.

    @jamesosborne,

Regarding Site Kit > Settings > Analytics > Edit (on tryit.tv), in Google Analytics there is only one website/property/data stream, so there is nothing for me to change as such.

on tryit.tv, the Measurement ID & Google Tag ID are different. See here: https://a.cl.ly/kpuZJEAk with parts covered.

on karavadra.net, where I also use Site Kit, the Measurement ID & Google Tag ID are the same. See here: https://a.cl.ly/Bluvoyvg The Analytics are firing/updating here.

The different Measurement and Tag ID’s are what I thought the issue was due to on tryit.tv, but I’ll leave that for you to consider?

Both tryit.tv and karavadra.net use the same consent management system, but I’ve switched it off on tryit.tv. So can you do your check on both tryit.tv (consent off) and karavadra.net (consent on)?

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you again,
    Bharat

    Hi Bharat,

The Google tag printed to your site via Site Kit (which is used to connect your measurement ID) is the correct once, see this screenshot highlighting this. This is normal and as expected, there are no issues here.

on karavadra.net, where I also use Site Kit, the Measurement ID & Google Tag ID are the same. See here:?https://a.cl.ly/Bluvoyvg?The Analytics are firing/updating here.

So the issue is that your tags are not firing only? This I can see, as reported above (https://imgur.com/qepb58S). I can see that you now disabled the consent feature on your site, and it remains that the tag doesn’t seem to be firing. Next can you share whether you have Lightspeed cache enabled? I can see some code snippets on your site referencing this. I can also see a WPC_INSERT_CRITICAL comment which may indicate something else. After you disable Lightspeed Cache please let me know and I’ll check your site once more. Thank you.

    Hello James,

Litespeed cache on a server level seems to have been enabled for tryit.tv See here: https://a.cl.ly/JruEOLEm (and also on karavadra.net).

However the WordPress LiteSpeed plugin is installed but NOT activated on tryit.tv (and not installed on karavadra.net)

I have now disabled LiteSpeed on tryit.tv on the server level and left the plugin deactivated. karavadra.net has LiteSpeed enabled on the server level, and the plugin is not installed.

However on disabling LiteSpeed on tryit.tv it said. It alerted ‘LiteSpeed Cache Already Disabled – No Action Taken’. See here: https://a.cl.ly/12ulgNWr

It seems odd that LiteSpeed is enabled on karavadra.net (on server level) and that fires/updates the Analytics but not on tryit.tv. Could it be just the deactivated plugin on tryit.tv?

Can you please do your checks.

    Thank you,
    Bharat

Thanks for the update. I can still see some Litespeed references when checking your site (tryit.tv), and your Analytics tag is still not firing. Can you ensure Litespeed is disabled at host level and I can then check your site once more.

    Thread Starter Bharat Karavadra

    (@bharatk)

    James,

Because I thought I’d switched off LiteSpeed on the host account panel, I had to get advice from the host managers. They said that the code on your screen capture is showing Lightspeed code (not Litespeed) with the former being they believed due to the WP Compress plugin and the associated caching/compress service. So I’ve switched on LiteSpeed again.

As I require the WP Compress service, I checked the karavadra.net site which also uses the same plugin and service and because karavadra.net fires/updates the Analytics OK, I simply copied the config over to tryit.tv and noticed that the Google Tag Manager was previously set to lazy load on tryit.tv. This is now off for tryit.tv which now as the same settings as karavadra.net

The Analytics now seem to be firing in live view in Analytics after testing on a couple of browser. See here: https://a.cl.ly/NQuAlvPB

However no activity shows in Site Kit, which may be due to it taking longer than a few minutes for the firing to appear.

So, before we switch off both Litespeed and WPCompress, can you please do your checks and feedback?

    Thank you,
    Bharat

Thanks for the update @bharatk, appreciate you sharing your findings with the other plugins and your host contact. I checked your site and I can confirm that the Site Kit configured measurement ID is now tracking visits as expected (screenshot). There is no longer any requirement to switch off Litespeed and WP Compress if all is working as expected, given this was likely a configuration issue with WP Compress as you determined. Nice work comparing both sites configurations with WP Compress.

Do let me know if you have any further questions with the above.

My previous test visits now show on Site Kit, so it all seems OK now.

    I’ll mark this as resolved.

Thanks for your help. It’s appreciated.
