    Hello.

I love your plugin, but since my website is growing bigger and the database and files are larger, when I try to restore a backup, it gives me the warning “max_allow_packet = 1 MB is too small. The recommended value is 16M or higher. Too small value could lead to a failure when importing a larger database”. I ignored the warning and it failed to restore and I could not even access my wordpress dashboard. Thank God i was on localhost. Can a failed restore do this? Secondly, what do I need to change in the options so that a restore can be successfully done. I am on sitegrounds shared hosting. My website is paradigmshift.com.pk

Once, I restored a backup that siteground made and this failed and my website was down. Since then I have relied on your plugin for backuping and restoring but since the localhost issue I mentioned above, I am a bit paranoid.

    Thank you

    Hello @hbk747

Please first change max_allowed_packet size to 16MB in your database (you can do some search in Google, there are many detailed guides) then try to restore the backup again.

It may not be the only reason for the restore failure. If the issue still persists, please send us the full restore log to help identify the issue.

    Kind Regards,

I am on a shared hosting system. I have heard that I wont be able to make the edits then?

    Hello @tonyrobins

I talked to them and they said that they have increased the packet size to 16mb.
I have not checked myself by restoring a backup, however.

I have a new dilemma of sorts. When I try to create a backup of my current website (both database and files), it gives a warning stating “the database (dumping SQL) is too large” and that the backup might fail and use up all server resources…

I am really confused so I did not take the backup. Am i supposed to change some other settings? or would you say the backup should be taken of the database or the files individually or something.

    Hey @hbk747

This warning message will pop up when the plugin detects that your files or db is large.

You can simply ignore it and click ‘OK’ to continue the backup. Or you can go to WPvivid settings > General Settings > Uncheck the option ‘Calculate the size of files, folder and database before backing up’ so that it won’t appear any more.

    All the best,
