max mega menu cannot enable

I’m trying to set up max mega menu. I’m at the stage at which I’m supposed to be choosing the display mode for the sub-menu items and I’m getting a message to ‘enable Max Mega Menu using the settings on the left of this page.’ I did that at an earlier stage and the ‘settings on the left of this page’ are not there.
