Max characters for search field?

It seems like a simple task very common in form creation but I can figure how to limit the amount of characters to input in a search field.
I am doing Canadian Postalcode and need max 6 characters

It is fairly simple, however the plugin is not set up to do this without some custom code. You can use a custom template to set up your search form using an input field that uses the “maxlength” attribute. You can also set it up to enforce a specific format if you want as well.
