  • You need an account for MaxCDN to work.
JetPack photon is not needed if you are using another CDN.
    CloudFlare can work with MaxCDN.

You could use them all together but if you are using photon to serve all the images then why have the cdn?

So to get the best speed, you recommendation is to use cloudflare and photo together?

If you are using CloudFlare you don’t need jetpack photon.

There are some other advantages with photon (image compression, resizing, etc) but for most sites CloudFlare is perfect.

I think CloudFlare does not CDN images. That’s why I am using photon.

Destac is correct. You can also tell CloudFlare what to cache using Page Rules (available on all CloudFlare plans):

    CloudFlare

One additional question regarding CloudFlare vs. Photon. I understood that some hosting plans offer free CloudFlare only for desktop browsing, but not mobile browsing?(which you need to buy separately) If that is correct, then one could have Jetpack Photon activated as well for the sake of mobile users. Am I right? If they don’t seriously contradict and play each other out, then at least one gets little faster mobile user experience in addition to CloudFlare. Please clarify if this assumption is correct.

CloudFlare still “works” for mobile browsing, even if you are on a free CloudFlare plan signed up through a hosting provider. But if you want the most optimized experience for mobile visitors you will need to upgrade to a paid CloudFlare plan.

And just to clarify, depending on your hosting provider’s relationship with CloudFlare you may be able to upgrade to standard CloudFlare plans or unique (feature specific) plans they offer.

    Hello,

I installed cloudflare expecting that my website will be sent from local IPs when customers are located in different countries than my server.

But I found that Cloudflare does not cache the complete website (then I do not understand its purpose anymore).

So the only solution is a REAL CDN ?

    Thanks.

Not all websites make sense to cache everything. Sites with a lot of dynamic content, or eCommerce sites (to name a couple) would not perform as expected if all content was cached.
