Matomo crashes WordPress after user profile update

    When we update a WordPress user profile, WordPress crashes and the profile is unchanged.

    We tested without other active plugins. The only exception was our Redux-basted theme. Because only Matomo throws a fatal error in the WordPress debug log we assume Matomo is the culprit. This is the error message:

    PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class “Symfony\Polyfill\Mbstring\Mbstring” not found in wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/vendor/symfony/polyfill-mbstring/bootstrap80.php:48
