Matching graphic Size

Working with a new theme (Avenue) It has a slider across the top of the page. I want to replace the default photo with a logo. the original photo is 1200 x 698. When I try to put a logo in at those same measurements it cuts it off. I’ve tried several different sizes on my logo file and still the same thing happens. What do I need to do to get my logo to fit?
