• I aim to replace the present slider in use, which is not currently working properly and gave other problems in the past, with masterslider, which I have used successfully elsewhere. To test this out I replaced the old shortcode in our header.php file in my local copy on my laptop with a masterslider shortcode: no other change was made. For some reason this causes the top part of the header, which can be seen on the actual site above the failing slideshow, to become a black block. Can anyone suggest why?

Further investigation revealed that masterslider adds to the output of body_class in a way that makes the background specified in the settings for the slideshow make a solid block of colour covering the other part of the header. The colour was initially set by default to black but was easy to switch to white – but both equally obscure what should be shown. What I want is for masterslider not to mess up the output of body_class.
