Master Slider slides won't link to a page in website

I have installed the free WP plugin of MasterSlider but I can not get each slide to link to a page in the site. I have tried a number of permutations of the URL but none seem to work. When I looked this issue up the only reference seemed to be to using another plugin to get my pages to point to another website. I don’t have another website to use for this nor do I want to install another plugin if I only need it for this. I can’t seem to get support without purchasing a licence, fair enough, but if this other outdated plugin is the only way to do this then I’m not sure I want to buy this slider product.
