Master Slider 3.8.1 (or 3.8.7) not working with shortcodes

I am struggling to get master slider to display a slider on my page. I enter a shortcode into the gutenberg block editor such as [masterslider id=”12″], but the live website does not display the slider. The preview in the Master Slider pages works, and it also displays correctly when in the “Customise” panels.

I’m using the Twenty Twenty-One theme, a fairly fresh install of WP 6.1.1, and have tried disabling all my plugins but can’t get it to work. Any ideas?

By the way, I’m using the older version 3.8.1 because with the latest version, I’m experiencing an issue where clicking “Create” to create a new blank slider in the MS pages, it just perpetually displays a “Loading data” message at me. I could create a slider by using one of the templates, but then had the same issue where the shortcode wasn’t working.
