Massive News Thumbnail Upload problem

I recently purchased Massive News and one of the great features is the display of thumbnails on the front page and in the posts. Unfortunately, for *whatever* reason, WordPress won’t let me upload thumbnails, either from my drive or from URL. It acts like it wants to do it, but it never completes.

This is my sandbox site, so I’m not desperate yet, but it’s still quite problematic. Here are some of the things I’ve done to resolve the issue:

1. Deactivated every plugin except the two that came with the theme.
2. Ran the “Requirements” plugin to make sure that my host had the correct support.
3. Contacted my host directly to confirm. They do.
4. Uploaded a fresh copy of the them (blowing away my customizations)

I was hoping to be able to launch the new site this weekend, but it looks like that’s not going to happen. I just want to know if there’s something I’m missing that keeps pictures from uploading.
