    Hello,

I have just noticed that your plugin i have been running for a while with the latest WP is completely broken.

It has caused massive site issues and has rendered my whole installation unusable with clicks taking 45 seconds to render the page.

Your site is also broken and timing out ? are you suffering this issue as well ?

I know its your plugin because i spent a good hour with my hosting company and disabling your plugin immediately fixes the slow issues on the site.

When enabled it completely brings it down to a halt.

I need to allow you access to see this issue but i need an email address or another method of communication so i can send private details.

    Hi Menkom,

The issue is actually that our RSS feed is (stupidly) being pulled from https://www.wp-timelineexpress.com. For whatever reason the site is down right now – which I am currently working on resolving.

The issue is clear now that when the RSS feed is unreachable, the process just hangs and thus the backend of the site in new and edit announcements doesn’t fully load.

To remedy this, I’m going to be removing this RSS functionality as it is clearly causing unforeseen issues.

I’ll have a patch out first thing in the morning which should resolve the issue for you. I’m sorry about that, and I’m not entirely sure what’s up with the server as things were running smoothly all day.

I’ll post back here as soon as I push out a patch, in the morning (I am writing this from bed). I will get the patch our before I leave for work.

    Thanks,
    Evan

    Quick Solution:
    delete the rows 156 – 178
    in lib/admin/metaboxes/metaboxes.announcements.php

@ww_hoax is right, removing the line will solve the problem. I’ll have a patch out in the next hour or so.

    Evan

    Hello Evan

First of all thanks a lot for your awesome plugin.
Removing the lines is not solving the problem for me. Is there anything else i can do till you have the patch?

I have the same problem on my side. The Solution of www_hoax do not dolve the problem.

    Need also a quick solution!

Working on getting one out now! Sorry about the delay, still early here on the East Coast.

    Evan

    Hey Evan

    I hope you are well!
If it helps, the problem is not only at the backend, it is on frontend also. If timeline express is activated, my website’s pages are loading slow too. I have a shop page which uses ajax to filter the products, and the filtering takes more than 10 seconds. If i disable timeline express, the filtering takes about 1 second.

    Thanks a lot.

As a quick fix, you can delete the following lines:

    https://github.com/EvanHerman/timeline-express/blob/master/lib/admin/metaboxes/metaboxes.announcements.php#L107-L178

I will have the patch out in 20 mins.

    Evan

    Thanks Evan

v1.2.7.1 minor patch is being uploaded now. You should be able to update in the next 10-15 minutes from your dashboard.

I’ve removed any dependency on the RSS feeds, including the Add-Ons menu item in the dashboard – to prevent users from clicking it and trying to hit the RSS feed.

I’m not sure what happened, but I think the number of hits to the RSS feed brought down my server – which in turn caused this issue across all of our installs. Quite frankly it was a stupid call on my part to include the RSS feed to begin with, and am a bit embarrassed I didn’t have the foresight to realize if the site were down the RSS feed would fail to be retrieved causing an endless hang. I’m hoping this quick patch resolves it for all of you.

Please let me know if does resolve the issue – as I would like to get it squared away for everyone – since it is such a crippling bug.

Thank you all for your patience and sorry for all the delays, and the issues because of this.

    Evan

    Hello Evan

Thank you nikosmdtps! I appreciate you letting me know your results.

I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the forums for the rest of the day – and on my email. If you do encounter any issues, or find that things are still functioning slowly, find a bug – whatever it is, don’t hesitate to reach out and I’ll get back to you promptly.

    Sorry again.

    Evan

    You are welcome Evan
Keep up the good work ??
