Massive amount of failed logins (44 in 10 hours)

  • I get emails alerting me when someone or something has failed to log into my WP sites thanks to the Wordfence plugin. It’s the emails named “User locked out from signing in”.

    Recently one of my sites has had an insane amount of failed login attempts. 44 attempts in 10 hours. I’m concerned. What can I do to discourage this?

  • That’s really not that much. I don’t bother with those email alerts since my sites regularly get such login attempts.

    You can’t discourage it, so just let Wordfence do its job. And make sure your legitimate users have strong passwords. And don’t have a username “admin.”
