Mass-Retry possible?

    Dear Team,

    I often experience the case that when I send mails via my newsletter plugin, about 30% of the mails are not sent and logged “Sending Failed”.

    But when I click “Retry” in the log at a respective failed mail, it gets sent.

    Therefore 2 questions are coming to my mind:

    1. Why are those mails failing? Is there setting in the GD queue I need to adjust?

    2. When marking all “Sending Failed” on a page with the checkboxes on the left, there is only the mass-action “Delete” available. It would be cool to also have “Retry” to be able to mass-re-add failed sendings to the queue again.

    Hi,

    My plugin has nothing to do with the process after the email is sent. Depending on the sending method used (mail() or SMTP), the error is returned back to the plugin, and my plugin can’t do much about it, why it fails, usually can be debugged on the server used for sending, in my experience, most mail servers keep extensive logs, so you can check with hosting company about failed emails. If they find something that is caused by my plugin, I will be ready to fix the problem. Some shared hosting servers have limits placed, which can cause emails to fail if sent to quickly.

    I plan to add bulk option for retry soon.

    Hi Milan,

    thank you for your feedback.

    Ok, I understand. I just was of the opinion, that I might have set too much emails per hour, so the mail server of my hoster might have a problem with it.

    I now adjusted the queue values

    * CRON Job Interval
    * Maximum Job Length
    * Emails per Job

    Maybe my previous settings were too much for the SMTP-service of the server.
    I will keep you updated of my results.

    Yes, the bulk option for retry will be very handy. Do you already have a rough time-plan, when you will finish integrating this?
