Masonry Pro Thumbnails Not Sharp (unusable) on Iphone
-
Hi.
1. My developer convinced me to use the NextGen plugin for my new site’s blog galleries. I’m a pro photographer so my images have to look good. Unfortunately while they look good on the computer the iphone is unusable. The plugin would be better btw if you could choose how many rows/columns you want instead of having to choose a pixel width…or at least make it an additional option…hard to believe NextGen didn’t realize that. Anyhow, using Iphone directly and the iPhone emulator online the images are soft to the point where I can’t use them. My developer contacted NextGen and they suggested trying their current beta…which we did…but the same issue persists. I have to launch this website and unless you can suggest a solution for the thumbnails to appear as they should we’ll have to take NextGen off the blog and implement a different masonry gallery plugin.
It’s surprising to see issues like this from a product that has been out so long and has so many users constantly providing the company with feedback. My site is responsive and dynamic btw.
If you check the link below on iPhone or an iPhone emulator you will see the problem.
Here’s a direct link to an emulator with my gallery showing soft. But if you choose
2. Also, one thing I’m curious about. In my blog galleries the Masonry pro thumbnail images don’t stretch evenly across the container. They’re left justified so the left side lines up with the text above but on the right side the right side of the images never lines up with the full width of the container…there’s always some white padding on the right side. Maybe this is also part of the problem of asking people to choose a pixel width instead of a number of columns for the masonry grid? My developer said it has to do with my site being responsive and not fixed width and that’s how all responsive galleries would behave. Really? I sure wish the images spanned the whole container so the images would perfectly align with the width of my text.
Any help solving these issues is greatly appreciated…with problem #1 being the most vital because if that’s not workable #2 doesn’t really matter. Thanks! JK
