I have a friend who is hosting my WordPress blog on her Go Daddy platform through her WordPress site. My domain myblogexample.com is hosted by 1and1. She has her main site which is https://exampleblog.com. She has two subdomain blogs on that , including mine, which when I put in my registered domain https://www.myblogexample.com, it shows up on the URL line as https://exampleblog.com/myblogexample.com-wp/.

When I share posts on Facebook or in Google SEO, the links all show up as being from Exampleblog.com. Is there a way in my WordPress dashboard I can mask this so that my site optimizes and shares with the correct URL? I am so far from techy, so I hope there is a noncode writing way to do this. The last time I messed with HTML, I lost access to my page.

  • There is a noncode way of writing this, but it would involve contacting the domain host.

You have to make sure that https://www.myblogexample.com is pointing to https://exampleblog.com/myblogexample.com-wp but ensure that it’s forwarded with domain masking.

This may also involve some extra work on your site, such as setting the WP URL and Site URL in your WP admin settings.

There are other ways (htaccess, FB Open Graph) but that’s definitely not noncode.

    Thanks!

So my http direct in my domain dash at 1and1 says “https://www.exampleblog.com/myexampleblog-wp” It does not give an option to mask on the 1and1 dashboard, unless I’m missing something.

When you say “This may also involve some extra work on your site, such as setting the WP URL and Site URL in your WP admin settings.” Does that mean on HER WP dash that hosts mine? I don’t have access to that. She should probably know how to do that. Since posting this, I also noticed that subscriber emails won’t work either because they are being directed elsewhere. I’m guessing part of the same issue.
