• Hello,

I have multisite installed and running and now just need to get URL masking to work. I need https://www.myurl.com to point to https://www.mysite.com/wordpress. My URL is with GoDaddy and my hosting is with HostGator – both haven’t been helpful. I don’t care about SEO (in fact I rather the site wasn’t indexed …) and have full access to all the files and the cpanel.

So far I have tried forwarding with masking (with GoDaddy) but the screen is just blank (The source code has the iFrame information in it) and I have tried domain masking but I can’t find a plugin that will work with a multisite that is located in a folder – not directly on the root. Regular forwarding works but I need masking.

Also, both GoDaddy and HostGator said that everything was working correctly from their end so I was thinking maybe a setting with WP?

I’m up for any type of redirect with masking but I can’t move where the wordpress site is installed.

    Thanks for helping!

You want myurl.com to show the content from mysite.com/wordpress?

    There are two problems here.

    1) WordPress doesn’t like having ‘two’ URLs, especially not for Multisite. It likes to have ONE thing.

    2) Domain ‘masking’ isn’t right at all. Mirroring, or parking, would be what you want.

As for problem #1, that’s messy. You can’t map domains in WP with the main site, it just doesn’t work.

Are you trying to do this to move the sites or something?

That is correct – I want myurl.com to show the content from mysite.com/wordpress but I am not trying to move the site. I want to keep it at mysite.com/wordpress but use a different URL.

How would I go about parking or mirroring the site?

This is a bad idea. It CAN be done, but I don’t think you have the access to do it (you’d want VHOST access and possibly some manual tweaks to httpd.conf to do it right).

Why not move the site to be 100% myurl.com ?
