Mashable / Huffington Post-like image gallery / slider

I’m looking for an image gallery / slider used on sites like Mashable, Huffington Post or Martha Stewart. I don’t mind buying a plugin, and I had a look at NextGEN and WooSlider, but neither seem to give me the features I’m after. Both of them are really focused on image, while I’m after something to showcase an image + some copy about it and ideally add a SoundCloud embed in that content.
As most themes are responsive these days, it should resize and ideally add in an opportunity to add in ads.
You would have thought a plugin like that would exist (or a theme with that feature built in), but I can’t find it anywhere. All I can find is posts from people looking for the same thing, so clearly there is demand for the feature. Does anybody have any ideas of where to find one or how to configure an existing plugin?
