Marking spam fault
-
I manage a wordpress site. I have suddenly started to receive thousands of spam messages. I have commenting blocked as much as I can. In the discussion settings I have allow people to submit comments on new posts unticked. I have comment author must fill out name and email ticked, user must be registered and logged in ticked. I’ve got literally hundreds of different terms blocked in the disallowed coment keys and I logged in today to find 8004 spam comments. Firstly, how do I permanently disallow ANY and ALL commenting? Secondly, how can I do more than 20 at a time? I found in the comments bit, the screen options and if I set that to the maximum of 999, firstly it takes AGES to load and secondly once it has loaded, ticked the select all tick box takes AGES to tick all, and when I apply the bulk action to mark as spam I get this:
Request-URI Too Long
The requested URL’s length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.
Additionally, a 414 Request-URI Too Long error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Seriously? The bulk actions uses the URI string to pass parameters to the php page? Why isn’t this a serverside process?
So, how can I bulk delete all of them in one go? If I have to do a few at a time, how many can I do?
