• In WC 4.1, there’s a new marketing tab in the top level menu that is filled with some click-baity articles and places a cookie for woocommerce.com

    1) You have not asked for consent to place a cookie in my admin area, so are in breach of European cookie laws at a minimum. Even if it’s not a breach for a particular region, you’re straining user trust by sneaking in a cookie without notifying people

    2) You haven’t provided an opt in/out toggle or way to only make the menu visible for different user roles as far as I can see. Site admins may not want their users to see this content. You have not asked for my consent to provide what is essentially an avert for your services to my site editors.

    3) It is absolutely unnecessary to have this at the top level – this would sit within WooCommerce tab or merged with Analytics.

    Please address privacy concerns ASAP

Just to add I have “Allow usage of WooCommerce to be tracked” unchecked – so not only have you failed to let me know about a cookie, you have actively ignored my preference.

Thanks @seank123 ?? – good to know you can remove the marketing menu with code.

It’d be good to get a response from someone at automattic about the cookie and the location of this at the top level.
