    Hi –

    I’m importing Woocommerce products via WP Import Woocommerce, but the markdown isn’t being converted when I view the products.

    My understanding is as follows:

    * Woocommerce products have been supported by default as a “post” type since v2.3
    * It should make no difference how the products enter the database as posts are stored in the database in raw markdown format, and interpreted on the product archive page.

    A couple of other things to note with my setup:

    * the Description text is in Japanese
    * there are trailing line breaks
    * currently developing on a local dev server, but have tested on an online staging server and same result.

    Here’s the text copied and pasted from one of the products:

    【特長】

    * 最高品質のメディカルグレード【ラノリン】100パーセント配合
    * 100% 自然成分
    * 優れた保湿効果
    * 無香料?無着色?低刺激
    * 添加物不使用
    * 赤ちゃんのお肌にも安心してお使いいただけます
    * パッチテスト済み
    * 特許申請中
    * 動物実験は一切行いません

    Would appreciate any suggestions as to how I should be troubleshooting this.

    Just a thought that occurred to me, the post I am trying to import has a “Date” field which is set to some date in the past (20160316 in this case). Does Markdown look at dates to determine whether to apply the markdown to the text? Maybe compare it to the date Markdown was enabled?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

    Could you try to open one of the posts in the editor, make a small change (like adding a space), and save your changes? Does the text get processed then?

    Hi Jeremy I tried that, no dice unfortunately.

    Not sure what the issue is but I ended up using a separate plugin for markdown. Not idea but not much I can do at this stage ??

    Sorry to hear that ??

    It might be worth trying to use Markdown in other post types on your site, to make sure the module works properly elsewhere. If it does, we’ll know the issue is limited to a specific set of posts.

    Hi Jeremy – quick update, recently I tried switching back to Jetpack Markdown and it seems the above issue is no longer an issue! But now I have another question. I’ll start a new thread. Thanks.
