    Instead of loading the map, I get a grey background on

    * Firefox
    * Mobile FF
    * Mobile Safari
    * Mobile Chrome

    The maps show fine on
    * Safari
    * Chrome

    Has anyone else come across this? If so, is there something I should do/not do to fix this? Thanks for any answers!

    I am confused… what do you guys see here:
    https://www.guidepatrick.nl/agenda/city-tour-2019-03-15/

    That’s my site and here the map loads with no problems on retina.

    Ok, just trolling, I see your map. But refreshing my site does nothing and shows only a gray map.

    @duisterdenhaag the map *loads* no problem on retina but is does not *show* retina. It is pixellated on high-resolution displays.

    I think that has to do with the map tile server. It appears that the default maps do not serve retina images, resulting in 404 errors in your console. Looking into that.

    I think I fixed it. Before releasing it publicly, would you be so kind to test it for me, please?

    You can download the beta release here:
    https://www.stonehengecreations.nl/osm-beta.zip

    To test my own configuration (just a double check):
    For locations_map: https://www.guidepatrick.nl/agenda/locations/
    For #_LOCATIONMAP: https://www.guidepatrick.nl/agenda/city-tour-2019-03-15/

    Please let me know what your findings are. ??

    If it’s the same beta file then the other thread, I still can’t see a map showing up… :/

    (Sorry for the bad news :p )

    @duisterdenhaag I can see your locations_map as a retina map but the retina seems to be achieved by way of simply zooming as texts are all only half size.
    Your #_LOCATIONMAP is non-retina.
    I’ll try your beta in a bit as soon as I have a minute. Thanks for looking into this so quickly!

    Hi Stephan,
    Thanks for testing with me. I really appreciate it! ??

    Could you show me the difference somehow please? Since I have just 1 iPhone 5s and an old Cinema Display (yes, long love vintage!) I cannot really compare retina vs non-retina. That is, unless anyone wants to donate a retina display. LOL.

    (@glujaz)

    Some years ago, you could force retina on a non Retina display, don’t know if it’s still possible.

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/12124576/how-to-simulate-a-retina-display-hidpi-mode-in-mac-os-x-10-8-mountain-lion-on

    Ps : I still use my very vintage white Cinema Display HD ! ??

    No worries, glad I can contribute. Unfortunately, it didn’t want to let me install. This is what I did:
    * Disabled the release stonehenge-em-osm plugin
    * Chose “Add New”, uploaded the ZIP

    -> I am getting the following message:
    “Destination folder already exists. /kunden/455036_48161/webseiten/bemoused/wp-content/plugins/stonehenge-em-osm/

    Plugin installation failed.”

    My non-Retina is an old 27″ Cinema Display. I wouldn’t give it away for anything ??

    Here are two screenshots, taken from the iMac5k with Retina display:

    Note that the stork is also non-retina.

    To install the beta, I had to remove the current released plugin completely.

    The settings were kept though, so installing the beta will make the maps work back again ??

    got it. Will try later. My workday has suddenly begun … ??

    Thread Starter stephanmoenninghoff

    (@stephanmoenninghoff)

    Ok, I tried anyway and WordPress gives me the message “do you want to delete the plugin and all its data?”.
    I’m not squeamish but I have configured this thing to do exactly what I need and I would not be a happy bunny if I lost everything…
    Is it really safe?

    glujaz

    (@glujaz)

    The plugin only replaces code within events manager to show OSM instead of google. There are no real settings here.
    Keep maybe the API key somewhere though, to put it back in quickly if it removes it ^^

    (And maybe, do à backup ? Yeah, have to one too… :p )

    (@duisterdenhaag)

    WordPress will only delete data from the database if the developer built-in a uninstall.php. And guess what? I didn’t (yet) ??
    SO you can remove the plugin safely, it will keep the API key saved etc.
