Mapping Existing Comments to Subscribers and Other Users

I have been redeveloping a blog that was on 2.8.4 and will now be on 3.0.1.

I had exported the data into my localhost database and have been building from there.

All is well except there is a disconnect between comments and users. The new database doesn’t know my admin comments so it can’t add the class to style it correctly.

I also can’t figure out a way to connect subscribers to existing comments. The new version includes BuddyPress and it would be nice to connect old comments with the existing user accounts.

Am I going about this wrong? I was just going to upload the newly built database as well as all the files and basically write over any existing data.
