• Hi,

I have created a secong network on my blog without a blog at its root. Instead, I want to map the URL of the root to an external domain. Any way how I can do that ?

I don’t want to dive in and install a separate domain mapping plugin since I fear that it might interfere with the internal domain mappings that your plugin is handling. Additionally, since the network root doesn’t have a blog I’m not sure how it would react to that.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Also this makes me wonder, if its possible to create a blog at the root for a network that was initially created without a blog at its root. I don’t need to do that for my own purposes, but was wondering because it might help in the redirection.

    Hi Uday –

You can’t do much with a network that doesn’t have any blogs. You can set up a root site for a network that doesn’t have one after the fact, though. Probably the easiest way would be to create another new network with a root site, then move that site to the network you want to use. You would then delete the network you had just created.

Unfortunately you will need to set up domain mapping if you want a single site to be accessible at more than one domain. I’m not sure whether that’s what you’re trying to accomplish when you say you want to map an external domain to the URL, but it’s my best guess.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
