I am not part of support… just some dude..
please note….
https://worthingrotary.freesite.host/events/*
in your console (Google)…
may not permit Maps to display in locations…
ie: https://worthingrotary.freesite.host/locations/adur-recreation-ground/
I am not sure if you need to make that more generic….
https://worthingrotary.freesite.host/*
or need to also add…
https://worthingrotary.freesite.host/locations/*
This more generic entry should work… for events and locations.
https://worthingrotary.freesite.host/*
On this page the map is showing correctly without any errors…
https://worthingrotary.freesite.host/events/16th-sept-club-meeting/
But ! on this page the map starts to be produced but gives the “This page can’t load Google Maps correctly… Do you own this website ?”
https://worthingrotary.freesite.host/events/23rd-sept-club-meeting/
Using the inspector in Firefox,
Console “tab”….. and looking at the “JS” errors and warnings….
“You have exceeded your request quota for this API. See https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages?utm_source=maps_js&utm_medium=degraded&utm_campaign=billing#api-key-and-billing-errors”
and… more interesting….
“You have exceeded your request quota for this API. See https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages?utm_source=maps_js&utm_medium=degraded&utm_campaign=billing#api-key-and-billing-errors”
It has been a long time since I investigated issues with Google Maps…
I don’t know if Google changed the “paid” and “free” quotas ?
Did you accidentally sign up for a “paid” API Google Maps key ?
As far as I remember… a “free” API for the Maps comes with quite a lot of usage for the general public.
I have three domains under one API Key for the maps… and I haven’t even gotten close to my free quota…
and with the greatest respect… I think I have more traffic than your one website.
Is your API Key being shared with lots of other websites ?
that is….
Could it be possible… that because your using a hosting company.. the “yourname.freesite.host”…
not a dedicated domain name like…
https://worthingtonrotary.org
Google is limiting access to the API Key ?
My apologies… it’s been a while since I researched some of these topics…
Although in general web surfing I have seen “Maps” being displaying with that warning label mentioned above…
I haven’t bothered to investigate the error until looking at your website this morning.
I find it vary hard to imagine that, providing Google has not made any drastic terms of service in the quotas,
you have exceeded your “free” quota.
Good luck hope that helps.
