• Hello,

On this site when I go to edit a user’s account or create a new user the only user roles I get are:
    SEO Editor
    SEO Manager
    Administrator

I am an administrator on the site.

I have looked at the Plugins page to see if there is a plugin that is restricting the kinds of users there can be, and I see no plugin that would explain this behavior.

What I would like to have for each user on the site is the ability to set the ‘regular’ WordPress roles like: subscriber, contributor, author, editor, administrator, etc.

Also, since the SEO Editor and SEO Manager roles are not familiar to me, I don’t know what kind of privileges (or equivalent roles) these provide.

    Thank you,
    China

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey Chinarose,

Because this is a user roles issue, it’s probably best to take a screenshot using Cloudup.com and posting the link to the backend Users panel for your user name, with the drop down for user roles selected, so that we can see what user roles are displayed.

If you are a site administrator and you cannot select the user role of “Contributor,” “Subscriber,”Author,” or “Editor,” then there must be some plugin limiting your view.

Unfortunately, I can’t ascertain what that plugin is without seeing the backend. If this site is on a multisite network and there is a “Super Administrator” for the network, they may have installed a role manager plugin that only give you access to setting the roles they defined.

Can you tell me if this is a multisite install?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

I just tried to sign up for Cloudup but it says that “public signups are currently disabled. If you have a signup code, please enter it in the box below”. But I don’t have a sign up code.

In any case, when I click on Role, the only options are:
    -SEO Editor
    -SEO Manager
    -Administrator

Here is a list of the installed plugins:
    -Classic Editor
    -Duplicator
    -Hip Web Design’s Instagram Plugin
    -MaxButtons
    -Official Facebook Pixel
    -Page Links To
    -Photo Gallery
    -Regenerate Thumbnails
-Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate Social Media)
    -Yoast SEO

I just did some searching online to see if I could determine if this site is multisite and I couldn’t determine if it is or not. I don’t have FTP access. If I did I know I could look at the wp-config.php file. If there is another way to determine this, let me know.

    Thank you,
    China

I know this has sat for a few months, but has come up again.

Any insights would be so helpful. Thank you!

    Hello,

Forgot to mention, I checked cloudup again today and still there is the same message that no new user accounts can be created without a invite code.

If there is an alternative way to get you the screenshots, please let me know.

    Thanks again!

    China
