There seem to be a lot of pointless things that do nothing different than other things…

Add Task List vs New Task. What? They do the same thing, why two buttons? A list is not a list. A task has sub tasks. This makes no sense. The so called list does not exist in the documentation. huh?

Once in a task, there is no way to go back to the task list. Why is there no back button? No breadcrumb? I got in via a project, Now takes 4 clicks to get back to the list where I started?? Not good. Oh wait there is a button, it’s at the bottom between a bunch of other unrelated things. This is bad UI design.

There is no edit mode, you’re always in edit mode? Again bad design. There should be edit and save. No way should I see “add custom field” without being in a mode to offer that.

If the Project or Task description is more than 2 lines, it’s off the screen and there is no scrollbar. Not functional.

There are statements about progress charts and such… these don’t exist, not in the documentation… false advertising.

I’d keep going but I’ve now hit a fatal issue, the permissions don’t work. Assigning the User role to an account does nothing. There is no front end unless you buy it? So there is apparently no way to actually use this unless you’re a full admin or maybe if you buy the front end? Sorry but that makes it useless, not free. Furthermore, it’s HEAVILY broken because if you assign manager role, you STILL can’t see zephyr at all, but suddenly you can edit the WP site settings like an admin?? Complete failure.

    Hi @ebonweaver,

Thanks so much for getting in touch and for your detailed feedback, I appreciate it.

I am sorry for the trouble you experienced with the plugin. Please find my answers to your questions below.

    1. “Add Task List vs New Task”: This was a recently requested feature on the forum which I added, that allows you to create a list of tasks all in one single step without having to manually create them one after the other. This is more of a shortcut, and it is not required that you use it. You can use the New Task button if that is easier to create single tasks. I will add it to the documentation, and the only reason it is not there yet is because it is a very recent feature.
    2. Going back to the task list from a task: There is a button labelled “Back to Tasks” allowing you to go back to the task list. Additionally you can use a shortcut such as escape. I’ll add breadcrumbs to the next update, thanks for the request.
    3. The progress charts can be found inside a project under the “Progress” tab. You can also enable the dashboard widget to display the overall progress.
    4. Edit and view mode: When you click on a task or project, it does open it as a popup in view mode. To edit a task or project, you can then click on the button to go to it and view it in a single page to edit and manage the details. Additionally, you can also allow specific users to only view tasks in “view” mode by removing the “Edit Tasks” and “Edit Projects” permissions and replacing them with “Edit Assigned Tasks” and “Edit Assigned Projects”. This will allow the user to only view the tasks/projects, and not edit any fields if that is the required use case.
    5. “If the Project or Task description is more than 2 lines, it’s off the screen and there is no scrollbar”: Thanks for the feedback on this. I apologize as this was an oversight on my part on the update. It is fixed now in the new update.
    6. Regarding the user permissions, I have answered this in detail in the review you left, but will answer it here as well. I have just retested this thoroughly with all the permissions. Each permission corresponds to a capability, so there is no code that grants random system permissions. To allow a user to access the backend and access Zephyr, you can add the “Access Backend” permission and then the specific permissions you want them to have within Zephyr such as “Create Tasks”, “Create Projects”, delete and edit permissions etc. You can allow any user to access the backend and access Zephyr and use it, so it is usable for each role. The “Manage Options” permission is the only WordPress specific permission which is the permission which allows the user to edit settings. Is it possible that you accidentally added this permission to the user role you were testing? You can also allow a specific user access to Zephyr or not from Zephyr > Teams & Members by unchecking or checking the “Allow Access” button next to their name. To allow a user to view the project manager on the frontend, however, is a Pro version feature which is only available in the Pro version. But this is optional, as all the main features are still available in the backend project manager and there aren’t any limits added otherwise.

I hope this helps and answers all the questions, but if you have any others, I am more than happy to help.

    Thank you for your time.

    Kindest regards,

    Dylan
