• I used to work at a resort chain and would love to build a way for ex-employees to connect.

Name, Current City, Email, Current Job are all easy (and pretty standard) to configure.

What I want to do that’s a little more complex is to have:

resort, resort season (summer year, winter year), resort country, hotel manager, employee job in resort (that season)

I then want to have a page for each resort, and a page for each resort season that lists employees…

Note employees & managers change resorts and change jobs, so each employee can have potentially multiple resort seasons, multiple job titles etc.

And the goal is the resort lists, place country of origin lists, plus locations where folks live now.

Employees should be able to sign in to create their list of resorts, job titles by the season they worked

We have a number of Facebook groups currently, but would be exceptional to be able to put everything together in a single WordPress instance.

Am I barking up the wrong tree to expect WordPress and the participants’ plugin to be able to handle this, or is this exactly the solution I’m looking for with a little bit of work to configure?

Or is this something that’s feasible with other plugins like ACF?

Appreciate the help as I’m trying to decide what it’ll take in time and tech to build.

    Cheers

    Grant

This is a difficult question to answer. Of course, given the required skills, it would be possible to adapt Participants Database to your application…but as to whether this is the best way to go, I can’t say. There may be some plugin that is a better starting place, I don’t know.

It’s important to consider that the most difficult part of any complex web application such as you describe is designing and building the user interface. Participants Database provides ways to build custom interfaces, so it’s possible.

How much work it would be largely depends on the skill of the devloper, it should be someone with WordPress experience.

Trying to think around the problem…

If I had a “chosen selector” or mutli-select field defined to allow users to select multiple resorts / seasons in a resorts-seasons custom field, could I #1 create a grid view on a manually created resort year page that pulls in employees based using a shortcode with a specific resort defined? Or #2 could it be a search result on a dynamic results page?

I realize in scenario #1 I would need to create a page for each resort / each season (possible) and would need to have every resort / year combo defined in the multi select field (also possible) – using the ‘chosen’ add on would make finding those resorts / years relatively easy and it would only need to be done once.

So is the static page short code possible and / or the dynamic search results possible if someone searched for a value in the custom resort / year field?

    Cheers

Something like this is possible using the Combo Multisearch add-on. If you’ve got questions about this add-on, please use the support forum for that plugin. This forum is for the free Participants Database plugin only.
