Many Site Lockout Notifications

    Hi,

    Yesterday I have received about 50 Site Lockout Notification e-mails. The messages says, e.g., that the host 198.7.59.8 have been locked out of the WordPress site due to user tried to login as “admin”, due to too many attempts to access a file that does not exist and due to too many bad login attempts.

    1) Is my site been attacked by this IP 198.7.59.8?

    2) In addition, the last days I have received many Lockout Notification e-mails from different host. What should be the problem?

  • Hey Andrezasv,

    It does sound like you’re under attack from this IP. As far as a problem, there really isn’t one. The fact that you’re getting these notifications means ITSEC is doing it’s job! ??

    I set to block the host or username after 5 attempts. Do you recommend to set other value or it is ok?

    I’m afraid with the attack.
