Hi there, I’ve been trying to update our version of wordpress. I’ve had to do a manuel install because automatic failed. I’ve uploaded all the files (with permissions 755 for folders and 644 for files) but when I try to go to our /wp-admin site I get this error message:

Warning: require(/home/haktl427/public_html/wp-includes/query.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/haktl427/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 109

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/haktl427/public_html/wp-includes/query.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/haktl427/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 109

Just wondering what i’ve done wrong.

    Thanks

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Do you have any recent backup or contact hosting provider for backup archive.

hey there, sorry for the delay in responding, public holidays in timor-leste.

I would like to avoid re-uploading all the files because I had to do that one-by-one and it took far too many hours. There doesn’t seem to be an option with my cPanel to upload a whole folder, you have to do it file by file. It was a fresh download of wordpress but I had to unzip the folder by copying and pasting to a different folder before my cpanel wouldn’t allow me to upload from the first location of the zipfolder.

Is it possible that I have just missed a file and that’s what the problem is?

I do have a backup that I did just before I tried to do the update… are you suggesting that I should re-upload that backup and start again?

Not yet. Right now it is impossible to determine which file is damaged or missing. Try using FTP to upload the fresh WordPress core files & folders.

ok i’ve done this now through FileZila. However, I used Fantastico to install wordpress originally (problems with our webhost meant that FTP didn’t work first time).

Problem now is that I now have wordpress connected through what seems to be the main general directory (done through Fantastico) and wordpress connected through our MySQL database. In other words, I have two sets of wordpress files accessible through my cPanel.

I can’t seem to run the installation script through https://www.haktl.org/wp-admin/install.php because of the same error. Do I need to remove wordpress through fantastico before continuing with this?

    Thanks!

Yes. And try a manual install of WordPress if you can.
