manually updating wordpress

Thanks! The reason I wanted to switch to manual updates is that some people advise against updating to the new version of wordpress for several weeks. But according to the link you provided most sites will update automatically. So maybe I should leave it the way it is as this is what wordpress recommends. Do you know if it’s common practice to switch to manual?
