manually updating widgets

Is there a way to personally create a widget that I could update daily/weekly ect? Most of the widgets I have come from other websites and update themselves everyday or are realtime…I need a gauge/visual image that I can manually manipulate to show the overall mood of the stock market (something like a speedometer gauge that would point to red, yellow, or green). Anybody have any ideas?
