Am I correct in saying that in the free version of Wordfence, that if I regularly click “Manually Refresh Rules” then the Wordfence Web Application Firewall have its rules up to date, just like in the premium version does automatically? I just want to be clear that a dedicated free user can still keep the rules up to date if they manually update it every day (or is the free version still 30 days behind even with manual refreshing)?

Hi @wordpressrun, thanks for your question.

The 30-day delay in rules still applies, but the automatic updates are every 7 days. This means it’s possible for a manual refresh to update new rules that have reached 30-day age since your last automatic update.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

Would you mind explaining that in another way? I didn’t quite understand.

    Hi @wordpressrun, absolutely.

Automatic updates are scheduled to run every 7 days.

This means it’s possible for your site to update itself on Monday, and some rules to reach 30-days-old on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, etc. before your next automatic update. If you run a manual update in the Tuesday-Sunday in between, it may download some of those new rules.

    Thanks again,
    Peter.
