I followed instructions for manually updating my WordPress from 3.9.2 to 4.0 on my local computer. After copying the files, I go to /wp-admin/upgrade.php but WordPress says that no update are required. So the database isn’t updated and the WordPress version in the dashboard still indicates 3.9.2

I tried on two different installations, none have caching plugin.

Is there a way to force database update?

I’m using Linux Mint 17 (mate edition).

I found a solution. After reading on different forum, it’s seems that Apache keeps some pages caches. I tried to simply restart my computer, then WordPress asked to update the database. Now everything works.

So it’d be useful to specify that restarting the computer could be needed after the files are copied (I would have saved days trying to solve this…).
