• I want to upgrade from 2.7 to 2.7.1

The automatic upgrade does not allow me to log in so I need to do a manual upload using FileZilla

I downloaded 2.7.1 but it seems to be a full install.

After backing up my data, do I just ftp everything up and overwrite everything?

  • yes

also, back up your wp-content folder in the existing install

#1. What do you mean it doesn’t let you login to auto upgrade?

#2. The instructions for upgrading are in the package you downloaded.

    back up database 1st always
I wouldn’t touch the /wp-content folder as you really don’t need to
just the root files, /wp-admin and /wp-includes
    then run upgrade.php
that’s the way most folks do it – however, I must point you to the “correct” way to do it

pay attention to #7 and #8

[edit – I sure lose the race a lot lately :>)]

Well, that sure was simple. Thanks.

    thisisedie,

I tried to use the automatically upgrade option but it won’t allow me to. I can’t login to whatever it is trying to do, to do the upgrade for me.

That’s so strange. I’ve seen several people say something to this effect but when I auto upgraded all I did was click to auto upgrade and it was done in seconds. I didn’t have to log into anything.

    Hi Edie

Some people’s upgrade installs are going seamelessly, others are having issues. Some of that depends on how the webserver they are on is configured.
