I inserted 3 manual related posts on the linked post. They did not show up, but instead display the CRP generated posts. I noticed this recently on another post. Seemed to correlate with latest update. (Ver. 3.5.3)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Absolutely! Also noting that the support has been superlative.

I am also having a similar problem…the manually selected posts no longer show up. I have a selection of them for each post. Now it either shows what I have entered under “keyword” or it defaults to selecting its own posts if there is no keyword. Is this being remedied, or is there a place to download an older version in the meantime?

Not sure if this is related, but my site started giving insufficient memory errors for post edits around the same time. I had to increase the PHP memory limit to 512mb to be able to use anything from the admin screen. I have read that sometimes storing ?FULLTEXT in the indices can cause this problem with PHP. Thanks for your time!

The manual posts is a bug. Are you able to try the beta above and check?

There is a bit of misunderstanding around fulltext indices and not helped by hosts. While sql queries for these can be heavy on the first load, my plugin has an inbuilt caching mechanism to reduce future loads. My pro version is used on a massive site with negligible impact.

Separately, if there is an edit issue, please do disable the plugin first and see if this goes away. You shouldn’t need 512mb limit for editing posts as the only place the plugin does something is clean up the cache key and save post meta on save. Only reason I see a big issue if you have a bloated meta table and issue with the index.

I downloaded the Beta version from github and it fixed the issue as well…thanks for the quick update. Do you think the insufficient memory errors have anything to do with this? I have thousands of posts and most of them have manual entries

Our messages crossed, I had already downloaded it. I also find it odd that these indufficient memory errors started out of the blue, but keep in mind…it’s not when I try to save posts. The error happens when I click the “edit” links for posts in WP admin…and the strange thing is that if I viewed the page and clicked the edit post page from the top of the page (while logged in as admin) this didn’t happen. It also happens when I try to load one plugin which has always used a lot of memory. But it supposedly doesn’t store any data in the database at all so not sure what is causing this. memory was already at 256!

Fantastic thanks for the recommendation…I will try this out after backing up. I have a lot of image sizes and old DB columns from apps that left them when I uninstalled them and never deleted them. It would be great if this can help.

Regarding the Pro version of your plugin, does it speed up page load time in any way or same as the free version?

The different behaviour is indeed strange. Have you tried disabling your plugins (including CRP) and testing. Another option is to see if you can spin up a staging site and testing these.

On pro, features are out here: https://webberzone.com/plugins/contextual-related-posts/pro/

The caching is the same as I think it needs to be fair to all users.

One feature that will come when I also release my Better Search Pro is dedicated tables for post data which I think will speed up the queries plus provide better indexing vs what you have today with blocks and shortcode not being ideal ones.

Yes, the plugins that I thought might be the culprits or which had recent updates. It didn’t change anything, the memory errors persisted until I upgraded the memory limit. This is all new behavior, didn’t have these problems before. Unfortunately my theme customizations break completely if I upgrade to MYSQL 8.2, so I am still on 7.4. The newer DB might resolve this…

Bit ooutside of my scope here, but try to install Query Monitor to see if you can get an idea on queries. Also try switching themes, even if temporarily.

Hi, I’m having the same issue (using v3.5.3). I use the shortcode on my Single Page template with Elementor and select posts to display manually in the metabox. Still, the same default posts get displayed (which are not contextual, i.e. the same for all my posts). Thanks for working on it ??

I am planning to get this deployed today or over the weekend.
