• After downloading WP 3.3.1 and uploading it to my Webhost (Just Host) using FileZilla I get this error message.

“Warning: require(./wp-blog-header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/newtoyo1/public_html/index.php on line 17”

I have tried using a fresh download of WP, and still get this message.

    Any help?

    consignment-cafe.com

Remove the old WordPress files & folders, empty your database and re-install WordPress.

    Still says the same thing.

Perhaps I did not do this properly (I am rather new to all of this).

In my CPANEL I went under file manager and found my website name (consignment-cafe.com) under public_html. This is where I have been putting the WP files and so I emptied this and then re-installed it to there.

If this is wrong pleas let me know what the right way is! Thanks.

This is where I have been putting the WP files

How? In a folder called WordPress? Did you preserve the folder hierarchy when you uploaded them? Only something is seriously wrong/missing.

When I downloaded WP I extracted all and got a folder called WordPress. When I uploaded to my consignment-cafe.com folder I uploaded the entire contents of the wordpress folder. This included “wp-admin” “wp-content” “wp-includes” as well as all of the smaller files under those including things like “wp-blog-header.php”

check if you have index.php file along with all wp- files

    I do.

Since you have all contents of wordpress folder in a folder called consignment-cafe.com which is in public_html your install program opens with this url
    https://consignment-cafe.com/consignment-cafe.com

So before installing move all contents of consignment-cafe.com folder in public_html and then see if you get the install program to open.

So I quit trying to manually install WP since I seem to be having so many problems with it and decided to do it through Just Host (they have a button for installing it). But even after erasing everything out of the file, when I try to install this way it is telling me “The installation can not be completed: – You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.”

Seriously… Is it just time for me to give up? I don’t remember the last time I was this frustrated.

Do have you have any wordpress files and folders in public_html

I took a look at your site and you have two subdirectories in your site:-

    The-consignment-cafe.com/

    theconsignmentcafe.com/

Another suggestion is since your host is keeping track of the number of installations of WP you have, ask your host tech support to reset the counter to zero, if you do not have WP installed in the two directories mentioned above.

The host does not know you have removed an installation of WP. If you used a script to install WP then you will need to use the same script to uninstall WP and this will keep the counter correct.
