    Hello,

This is my second thing I’ve bumped into:

In my posts and for the recipes I insert my images from Flickr, instead of uploading them to the media library, and I really like to use a CDN like that.

With the ZipList Recipes plugin the simple input box for the URL was not as user-friendly as your solution but I could use it for my Flickr images without any issues.

I know it’s not as simple as turning off some logging, but could you bring the input box somehow back? Like putting it below the “Add image” link when the link is visible? So the user could either click on the link or enter the URL to the input box (and after pressing an additional OK button) it could work the same afterwards. Because – as I see – your plugin has no problem of showing those external images in the editor if they already been set. So it would be just the input part.

    Thank you so much!

  • Hi again, newash,

This is a tough one. I’m really nervous about adding a feature with such limited use. Not one person has asked for the image url back ??

To me, cluttering the interface is a huge concern.

I think the ideal solution here would be another plugin that integrates with the Media Library ..not sure if there’s a good one out there. Let me know if you have ideas along this line.

    Hi HappyGezim,

Your point is totally valid. It would make the UI more complicated and if it’s really me needing it, probably wouldn’t be a great idea.
The only thing is that for me it’s a must.

But this “another plugin” just gave me an idea: I haven’t looked that deep into your code, but it would be probably much easier to put a hook there for me, so in my theme I could completely override the link and the media selector functionality with the input box? If it’s even easier – with the image preview part as well, I wouldn’t mind loosing that.

So it practically would bring back the “original” behavior through a hook. And no one else would get hurt. ??

What do you think? Would it be complicated for you?

    Hi newash,

How about you submit a pull request here: https://github.com/hgezim/zip-recipes ??
