Manual excerpts in Decode theme

Hi,

I begin a post with anchor hyperlinks, and these show up in the auto excerpt even though they cannot work because then the content isn’t on the page in question.

So I thought I’d do a manual version of the excerpt. Easy. Except for some reason I can’t fathom the manual version isn’t being called. The WordPress codex says the presence of a manual excerpt is the first thing checked, so perhaps it’s the theme?
